आम्ही, भारताचे लोक, भारताला एक संपूर्ण सार्वभौम, समाजवादी, धर्मनिरपेक्ष, लोकशाही गणराज्य बनविण्याचा दृढ निश्चय करून, व त्याच्या सर्व नागरिकांना: सामाजिक, आर्थिक व राजकीय न्याय; विचार, अभिव्यक्ती, विश्वास, धर्म व उपासना यांचे स्वातंत्र्य; प्रतिष्ठा व संधी यांची समानता; प्राप्त व्हावी म्हणून व त्या सर्वांमध्ये व्यक्तीची प्रतिष्ठा व राष्ट्राची एकता व अखंडता यांची हमी देणारी बंधुता वाढविण्यासाठी; आपल्या संविधान सभेत आज दिनांक २६ नोव्हेंबर, १९४९ रोजी अशा रीतीने हे संविधान अंगीकारतो, अधिनियमित करतो व आपणास अर्पण करतो.
